100 Pounds and Counting, One Rock at a Time

Perhaps you’ve heard me tell this story. Eight years ago March 1st Sherri and I left our positions at a large church because we had a dream in our hearts. Who knew if the dream would work, we just knew that we needed to try. So we resigned and when the time came, we cleaned out our offices and went home. One of my best friends Bob Ingle called me that day and asked “what can I do to help you”. I told Bob, call me on Monday and tell me that “I did the right thing”. So that Monday I get a call from Bob “Jimmie you did the right thing” and every Monday for the last eight years I get a call from Bob. It is a great testimony of a faithful friend and I am blessed to have Bob as my friend.

Yesterday Bob and his wife Flo came by the house to celebrate that Bob had officially lost 100 pounds and Flo has lost 48 pounds. What a wonderful accomplishment, so what did Bob do?  Eat 2000 calories a day and exercise, then bam 100 pounds gone. I asked Bob how much more he wanted to lose, he said “I plan on living this way the rest of my life and whatever I stop at, that is it”.

I have written a song that you haven’t heard yet.  It will be on the new CD and it is a testimony to guys and gals like Bob and Flo, its called One Rock. The message is simple walk around the mountain, talk to the mountain but while you’re walking and talking start picking up rocks, the hooks says it like this “I’m gonna move that mountain if “One Rock” at a time”. Many times the mountains in our lives won’t be removed and cast into the sea till we do some much needed “WORK” and one day out of the blue the thing is gone. I know WORK is a four letter word.  But it is a good four letter word not a bad one.

So to my friends Bob and Flo congratulations. And to all of us, it’s “One Rock” at a time.

Peace,

The Rev.
