REV. JIMMIE BRATCHER IS DREAMING OF A BLUES CHRISTMAS
Gifted bluesman To Release Man! It’s Christmas on October 6, 2009

Nashville, TN – Gifted bluesman, The Rev. Jimmie Bratcher, is set to release his first Christmas project, Man! It’s Christmas, on October 6, 2009 on Ain’t Skeert Tunes.

Man Its Christmas

Man Its Christmas

Produced by Rev. Jimmie Bratcher, Man! It’s Christmas, hits the ground running with a jubilant classic jazz rendition of the Bratcher-penned title track, which expresses the joy of the season while referencing just about every holiday symbol there is. A smokin’ jazz funk version of “What Child Is This” follows, leading into a down-home dobro-driven country blues arrangement of “Go Tell It On The Mountain.” Patriotic Christmas song “1941,” another original Bratcher tune, recalls the holiday just after the U.S. entered WWII, and expresses appreciation for those who have served our country and laid down their lives for our freedom. Backing Bratcher on the project are some world-class players, including Rick Yord (Suzy Bogguss, Lee Roy Parnell) on bass, Daron Tapscott (Joe Diffie) on fiddle and Kansas City’s Brandon Draper on drums & percussion. Bratcher is joined by Lester Estelle, Jr. (Pillar) on drums and Craig Kew (Proto-Kaw with Kerry Livgren) on bass on the live bonus DVD. Produced by Isaac Alongi (“Love, Marriage & Stinking Thinking”), the DVD gives the audience a front-row view of this lively holiday jam session.

Pastor, evangelist, author, singer, songwriter and guitarist, “The Rev” preaches in churches every Sunday, but on Saturday nights you’ll find him sharing his amazing testimony and blistering guitar licks onstage in blues clubs and at music festivals, prisons and even biker rallies.

Bratcher’s brand of the blues has been embraced by the Christian market and the mainstream blues industry alike, allowing him to perform at both Christian music festivals such as Creation East, Creation West Coast and Rock the Light, and at blues festivals such as Blues on the Hill, Simply the Blues Festival and Boxcar Full of Blues. He has appeared at venues along with Christian artists including Mercy Me, The Newsboys and Third Day, and with blues greats including Grammy winner and NARAS Lifetime Achievement Award winner David “Honeyboy” Edwards, Blues Music Award winners Zac Harmon and Otis Taylor, and Livin’ Blues Gold Award winner Hubert Sumlin, one of Rolling Stone’s “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.”

Bratcher, who serves as the bandleader and frequent commentator for the new Sky Angel/TBN TV show “Love, Marriage and Stinking Thinking,” is driven by the desire to point as many people as possible to the reality of the love that God has for them. “The blues is my most effective way to communicate,” says Bratcher.

Tell them So! During this holiday season we are all going to be with friends and family and that means conflicts. It’s just part of life, we all get on each others nerves, we all have times of making someone else mad, saying things in the heat of the moment that we really don’t mean. This will happen, but be ready to get past this. “Tell them So”.

What do you mean “Tell the So”? I am in Kentucky at this moment where we played one of the concerts on this years Christmas tour. The highlight of the evening for me was playing the song “1941”. It is a memorial to my parents Pete & Marge and their generation that some call, the greatest generation. They were depression era kids and when the call came for them to fight and sacrifice for the cause of freedom they rose to the call.

The first verse of the song says this “Just a boy from the farm, he left the plow and took up arms, Pete was just seventeen. December 7th gripped his soul, December 8th he swore an oath to fight and die if that’s what it took, 1941”. I think about my Dad at seventeen my grandparents giving their permission for him to go fight our enemies. I realize that the young that fight our wars’, are our most precious and valuable resources, that we ask to risk the most and we must be forever grateful.

When I talk about this song I talk about it in two lights, one honor and the other regret. Honor is obvious, all who have fought for us deserve our respect and esteem. But regret? Yes, my personal regret for things I should have told my folks, “Tell them So”. Words that I wish I had taken the time to say to my Mom and Dad, words of honor, words of respect, words of the deep love that I have for them. But I was silent, I kept my words to myself and now that my folks are gone my words have no value expect regret.

Sure, my folks knew I loved them but I could have done a much better job in telling them so. I remember the moments that we were together, I had the time, you know just a passing alone moment in the kitchen with my Mother at a family dinner, just a moment alone with my Dad to look them in the eyes and “TELL THEM SO”. Say the words that need to be said.

So this holiday season, take the time to tell those you love that you love them. Take, or make the time in your busy holiday schedule to take just a few minutes to tell them about the love and respect that you have for them.

Here is a copy of my song “1941” my way of saying thanks to very great man and woman who has fought for our nation and as my folks for being the greatest Mom and Dad in the history of the planet. Of course I am sure you say, “no it’s your folks” who are the greatest and all I have to say to that is well “TELL THEM SO”?

So from our house to yours we love you and are thankful for your love and friendship.

Peace & Merry Christmas,
Jimmie & Sherri

Here is my newest deal!!! A great music video on my song/CD “Man! It’s Christmas”. The video was created by Isaac & Sandra Alongi they own Isaac Alongi Studios in south KC. Isaac brought out the newest HD camera available “RED” all in know about that is the video looks and is fantastic. Thanks Isaac & Sandra.

Look close for Sherri she is in the video a couple of times, she is in the opening shot, those are her really great looking boots and she is giving me money! WOW! My son Jason was busy the day we shot video but my son-in-law Jonathan, daughter Amanda, grand daughter Mikaela and grand son Zayne are in the video too.

I wrote this song just to celebrate all that Christmas is. As a believer in and follower of Jesus Christ the joy of Christmas is something I experience every day. But our culture has latched on to this holiday and made it into what it has become in our nation. I simply wanted to just take about two minutes and eleven seconds and express my love for all things that we celebrate during the holiday season. “Presents, mangers and miseltoe, socking trees and lights that glow, turkey dressing and all that stuff”. I love it all because as Jesus came to this planet with the intent to bring us all back together again as family, so I hope this holiday season is with you you reconciled to God and each other.

So I hope you enjoy the video and the season and with the angels I say “peace on eart and good will to men”.

Peace & Merry Christmas,

Jimmie
